Loving
the Prophet is a Basis of Faith
Love for the Prophet
(peace be upon him) is one of the essentials of Muslim's faith. Iman or
faith is incomplete without it. It is the foundation of our belief. No
Muslim can claim to be a Muslim unless he loves the Prophet (peace be
upon him) more than any other thing in the world.
Anas (may Allah be
pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
"None of you will have faith till he loves me more than his father,
his children and all mankind."
From this one can
realize that love of the Prophet (peace be upon him) is an essential part
of faith. Allah has warned in the Holy Qur'an that voice should kept low
in front of the Prophet (peace be upon him) lest the good deeds are deleted
and the person does not know.
The Prophet (peace
be upon Him) is not only dear to the followers of Islam but the whole
universe loved him. There are hadiths that even the trees and stones used
to greet him when he passed nearby them.
Jabir Bin Samura (may
Allah be please with him) reported the Prophet (peace be upon him) as
saying: "I recognize the stone in Makkah which used to pay me salutations
before my advent as a Prophet and I recognize that even now."
Let's take a look
at the scene of the Battle of Uhad when the Prophet's (peace be upon him)
life was endangered by the pagans. The battle had a mess and no one knew
the whereabouts of the Prophet (peace be upon him). Some thought that
he (peace be upon him) was martyred. This was the time in the battle when
Muslims lost sight if the Prophet (peace be upon him) due to the complete
chaos. At this Omar and some other companions of the Prophet (may Allah
be pleased with them) lost their hearts and threw swords away saying that
why to live now.
Similarly, Ibn Nazr
(may Allah be please with him) said the same words and penetrated deep
into the enemy forces and embraced martyrdom. After the battle was over
his body had more than 80 wounds of swords, arrows, and spearheads.
When the news of martyrdom
of many Muslims arrived in Madina people were worried about the Prophet
(peace be upon him). A woman who heard the martyrdom of her father, brother,
and son but each time she asked about the well being of the Prophet (peace
be upon him). Knowing that Prophet (peace be upon him) is all right she
came to him and after seeing his noble face she just said: "In your
presence all the calamities are minor."
When the Prophet (peace
be upon him) had to migrate to Madina pagans had decided to raid at his
house at night while the Prophet (peace be upon him) is sleeping. Ali
(may Allah be pleased with him) knew very well that his life is in real
danger when he slept at his bed covered in his blanket, but he did it
for the sake of the Prophet (peace be upon him). He used to say that he
did not enjoy his sleep in the whole life as well as on that day.
